GBA beat ’em up Gekido Kintaro’s Revenge is being ported to Switch

Beat ’em up fans will be pleased to hear that another new brawler is heading to the Nintendo Switch this March.

Gekido Kintaro’s Revenge was originally released on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002 and got some pretty decent reviews. At the time Nintendo Power rated it 8/10, saying that its “Anime-style cutscenes with simple animation and written text help give Gekido a dramatic edge over other street fighters in the ‘Final Fight’ vein.”

The developer Naps Team has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version will be a brand new port of the game featuring 2-player co-operative gameplay and a survival mode. The game will also come with lots of extras such as concept art and different graphical modes. You can watch the Nintendo Switch launch trailer below:

I’ve played a lot of games on Game Boy Advance but never came across this one. Watching the video it looks like a really interesting game and as a fan of beat ’em ups, I can’t wait to try it out. It’s also great to see GBA games coming to Switch and it’ll be interesting to see how the developer updates the game to take advantage of Nintendo’s new hardware.
